KiwiRail owns, maintains and manages the New Zealand rail network on behalf of the government, following the purchase of the network by the government from Toll NZ Consolidated Limited in September 2004. KiwiRail provides New Zealand rail operators with safe and controlled access to the national rail network. Operators include Toll NZ, Auckland local authorities who control the Auckland commuter rail business (operated on their behalf by Veolia) and heritage rail operators. The Electricity Engineers' Association (EEA) is an independent association representing engineers and technical staff working in the electricity supply industry.
